With unpredictable weather looming, our main protagonist Fabian headed north to compete in the Ostseeman triathlon, aiming for the middle-distance race. This consisted of a 1.9 km swim, 90 km bike ride, and a concluding half marathon.
Before departure, the bike needed a proper clean and a quick check-up before being loaded onto the car.

At the event hub, Fabian collected his race kit, credentials, and registration materials. He then packed his bags for the two transition zones: one from swimming to cycling, and the other from cycling to running. Pauline helped him label everything with his start number.
Before the bag drop-off, Fabian’s friend Markus arrived to help him adjust his brand-new cycling shoes for the big day.
During a short rain break, Fabian tried on his swim cap and relaxed by watching a cycling documentary in the car.

When the rain cleared, it was time to drop off the transition bags and finalize everything for race day.

With the preparations complete, the evening ended with some well-deserved carb-loading – French fries on the menu!
Back at the accommodation, Pauline got creative, preparing posters to cheer on her husband and other competitors. Meanwhile, Fabian took time to rest and recharge.
Sunday: Race Day! First up was the swim, which Fabian completed in the blink of an eye.
He then transitioned to the bike for the 90 km ride. Despite the pouring rain throughout the entire cycling leg, Pauline was out on the course, cheering him on.

Finally came the half marathon, with the scenic coast of Glücksburg as the backdrop.

And at last — he made it!
